Tarragon

Kitchen Herbarry tarragon is true French tarragon, dried and ground into a powder. Dried tarragon has a light, grassy flavour, a subtle undertone of anise or liquorice, a hint of pepperiness and overall a quite unique flavour amongst herbs.

Tarragon's unique flavour is found in classic French tartare and béarnaise sauces and makes a particularly appealing infusion for vinegar.

It's distinctive but light flavour also compliments white fish, eggs and chicken very well.

When buying tarragon one should always make sure it is "French" or "True" tarragon as opposed to Russian tarragon, which has little of the flavour of the French variety, or Mexican/Spanish tarragon which, despite the name, is actually from the marigold family.

Stored correctly in Kitchen Herbarry packaging dried ground tarragon leaves will keep their quality of flavour for up to two years.

Fun Fact: True tarragon can only be propagated from cuttings or by root division since its buds almost never flower and in the rare event that a seed is produced it is sterile.
