Chinese Five Spice

The distinctive blend of Chinese Five spice is dominated by the liquorice like flavour of star anise which is balanced perfectly by the sweetness of cassia, the warming spiciness of cloves and plenty of nutty fennel seed. A bit of a bite is added with ginger to round of this quintessential Asian blend.

The ingredients of Kitchen Herbarry Chinese five-spice are freshly ground in our kitchen to ensure that they arrive with you bursting with the maximum flavour possible.

Chinese five-spice is both tangy and sweet and goes particularly well with pork or duck, when used in a marinade and with stir fried vegetables. If you add a little salt it also makes an excellent rub for chicken and seafood.
