Chilli (Whole Dried)
Kitchen Herbarry whole dried chillies are bird eye chillies, sometimes referred to as peri peri. When eaten without cooking, for example by chopping or grinding them to sprinkle on a salad, they have a fierce heat.
When cooked in food for a long time (an hour or so) they blend particularly well and provide good heat, a certain sweetness and distinctive chilli flavour. They are also excellent in homemade pickles and chutneys where they can release their flavour over a much longer period of time.
Stored correctly in Kitchen Herbarry packaging dried bird eye chillies will keep their quality of flavour and heat for up to four years.
Fun Fact: The name peri peri, sometimes spelt piri piri or pili pili, is Swahili for "pepper pepper"
