Caraway Seeds

Caraway seeds have a warm and earthy taste with a hint of aniseed and a lingering nutty flavour.

Considered to be an essential part of many garam masala blends this spice makes an excellent seasoning for potato or cabbage and nicely compliments apples and pears.

The flavour of freshly ground caraway seeds can overpower other flavours in a recipe. As little as half a teaspoon of whole seeds ground with a pestle and mortar is a good starting point for 500g of mashed potato, for example.

Stored correctly in Kitchen Herbarry packaging whole caraway seeds will keep their quality of flavour for up to four years.

Fun Fact: Caraway seeds are biologically fruits but their similarity in appearance to fennel and cumin has led to them commonly being referred to as seeds.
