Onion Powder

Onion Powder is one of the most versatile ingredients to have in your kitchen. It has an intense, sharp and pungent onion flavour that is balanced by a pleasant sweetness which quickly combines with sauces, soups, marinades and dressings.

Onion powder can also enrich Yorkshire pudding batter, breadcrumbs, stir fry, meat rubs, pizza and curries to name but a few. We've even heard of people sprinkling a little on popcorn for a savoury twist.

The powder is extremely fine so when adding to liquid dishes such as soup or gravy it is best to put the desired amount in a cup and make a paste with cold water first to avoid clumping.

Being such a fine powder it is especially important to keep onion powder away from moisture, you should never apply to cooking directly from the jar or refill pack.

Stored correctly in Kitchen Herbarry packaging onion powder will keep its quality of flavour for up to three years.

Fun Fact: In ancient Egypt the onion bulb was revered as a sign of eternal life due to its shape and layers and onion bulbs were placed in the eye sockets before burial.
