Thyme

Dried thyme has a sweet, grassy and subtly floral flavour which is slightly sharp and has a lingering freshness. It is one of a number of herbs considered by many to be best when dried when its flavour becomes highly concentrated by the lack of moisture.

Thyme brings a depth of flavour to so many recipes in European and Middle Eastern cuisine that it would be difficult to mention them all. We, at the Kitchen Herbarry, are particularly enthusiastic about using dried thyme with poultry, tomato based sauces and pâtés but it also compliments red meat, salad dressings, stuffing and stews.

Stored correctly in Kitchen Herbarry packaging thyme will keep its quality of flavour for up to three years.

Fun Fact: There are over 100 varieties of thyme but only two are really used for culinary purposes - common garden thyme and lemon thyme - the other varieties are mostly ornamental.
